Hasbro’s Next HasLab Is a Nearly 2 Foot Long Ecto-1 From Ghostbusters

Hasbro’s awesome HasLab program just announced another release and this time around our first thought is “That’s a big Twinkie.” The toy company is once again back to the world of Ghostbusters and this time it’s bringing to life arguably the most iconic piece in the franchise, the Ecto-1.

Oh, sure there have been Ecto-1s before. All kinds. But never in Habro’s sixth-scale “Plasma Series” like this. It measures almost 24 inches long, 10 inches high, and eight inches wide. It’s a beast and, as is the case with all HasLabs, this one is filled with all sorts of cool details, extra add-ons, and more. “The HasLab Lab worked directly with our partners at Ghost Corps to create the most authentic and movie-accurate 6-inch-scale Ectomobile possible,” the site writes. “Our design team was even able to visit and photograph an actual Ecto, and boy howdy, did they get all up in that car’s business, as indicated by the eerily insane amount of detail included in this six-inch-scale replica.”

Two versions are available—the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) [Base Model] at $325 and the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) [Deluxe Model] for $400. Which, yes, is expensive, but look at this baby and tell us it isn’t worth it. These are just a few images.

For the money though, it’s almost silly not to order the deluxe one. For an extra $75 you get—bare minimum—four brand new Ghostbusters figures that can go inside the Ecto-1. Each of those is worth $20-$25 each. Plus, you get a bunch of cool little trinkets that let you change it into the brighter, louder version from Ghostbusters II. But, if you don’t want to spend that much, both do come with the cool Librarian figure as well as the Slimer figure and, if the project gets fully funded in two weeks, a Louis Tully figure. Which, come on… that’s worth $400 alone.

But, yes, this is HasLab so it’s big, expensive, and not guaranteed. It only gets made if 12,000 people back it in 45 days. But, since 3,000 people have backed it as we write this, and it’s only been up a few hours, we’d imagine it’ll hit that goal very soon.
