Mr Hassan Ayariga, the founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), has chosen Rev. Samuel Wolarnyo Mensah, an economist, as his running mate for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Mr Ayariga who made the announcement at the Teachers Hall in Accra stated that the selection of Rev. Mensah, who is an economist, a reverend minister, and a lecturer presented a significant opportunity for the APC’s campaign in 2024.
He expressed strong confidence in Rev. Mensah, asserting that he brings innovative ideas that would enhance the appeal of the APC as a preferred choice for voters.
In his acceptance speech, Rev. Mensah expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the trust placed in him to assume a leadership role, emphasizing his commitment to serve both the party and the nation Ghana.
He pledged to work diligently to help the party achieve a substantial victory in the upcoming general elections.
Rev. Mensah urged party supporters to enhance their door-to-door campaigning efforts to secure votes and ensure a decisive victory in the forthcoming elections.
Rev. Mensah urged other independent presidential candidates and smaller political parties to unite with the APC in an effort to challenge the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and disrupt the existing dominance of both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This proposed coalition, referred to as “The Great Alliance,” aims to establish a robust political entity capable of transforming the nation’s political environment and realising the full potential of all Ghanaians.
Among the initiatives that the anti-corruption advocate intends to introduce is the enhancement of anti-corruption agencies and the establishment of a task force to oversee the operations of these institutions.
By joining forces, the two leaders aspire to advance social justice and address inequality.
Rev. Mensah, who is also a lecturer, stressed that their collaboration would foster a brighter future for all Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, or religion.
