Diogo Dalot has urged his Manchester United to take heed of Scott McTominay’s mindset after his match-winning heroics on Sunday.
The Scotland international came in clutch yet again for his side when they needed it most with an 86th-minute bullet header, which was assisted by Dalot, to claim a crucial three points against Aston Villa away from home.
McTominay is turning into Erik ten Hag’s very own super-sub and with four goals to his name off the bench, he tops the Premier League chart of most goals by substitutes this season.
Kobbie Mainoo’s scintillating emergence to the first-team along with Casemiro’s recent return to action has meant that the Carrington graduate has been forced to settle for a rotational role, though if there’s one thing fans know for certain about McTominay, it’s that he’ll get his head down and get on with it – no complaints or fuss.
Dalot calls for teammates to follow in McTominay’s footsteps
Such mentality is – in Dalot’s eyes – seen as the exemplary one for United’s entire squad to follow.
He said after Sunday’s triumph (as cited by the Daily Mail): “I think every time he comes on the pitch, he has that mentality of trying to score goals and trying to help the team.
“We need this type of mentality at this club, and I think he is the perfect person to show this season that even coming from the bench, he always has a good impact.”
