IMG Credit: WWEHe’s back. Professional wrestlers come from a variety of different sports, but there is a long history of them coming in from amateur wrestling. There is a logical transition from one to the other, as professional wrestlers often need something of an amateur background. University of Minnesota wrestling coach Brandon Eggum has announced on Instagram that Gable Steveson is returning to the university for one more season of collect wrestling. Steveson retired from amateur wrestling in 2022 with one year of eligibility remaining. Steveson signed with WWE and only wrestled one televised match before being released. He then attempted an NFL career with the Buffalo Bills but was cut from the team.

Opinion: This is hardly a big surprise as Steveson’s greatest success has come in amateur wrestling. If he can continue to do it one more time, it might be worth it to get whatever possible out of the sport before moving on. It could also give him some time to figure out what he wants to do, though I’m no sure what else there is for him in athletics after this season is over.
What do you think of Steveson’s time in WWE? Which sports produces your favorite wrestlers? Let us know in the comments below.
