People have thoughts. There are moments in wrestling that are going to get people talking no matter what they are doing. This can be something that a wrestler does or says and whatever those things are will get a reaction every time. This might be something that has nothing to do with a wrestling show and that was the case earlier this week. Now we know how things are being received.

Earlier this week, WWE’s CM Punk gave a wide ranging interview on the MMA Hour where he talked about his return to WWE but also the series of issues that led to his departure from AEW. According to Fightful Select, those backstage in both companies (with an emphasis on these being individual opinions rather than the general consensus) have differing opinions.
Those in AEW have said that the issue with Punk’s problem with Jack Perry was not Perry wanting to use real glass in a backstage segment but rather Punk telling the story in public. This is something Punk has been against before but he did it with this situation. At the same time, those same people said Punk’s telling of the story was correct. Another AEW source said the interview showed that the whole ordeal with Punk in AEW could have been prevented, as both sides seem to have moved on.
On the other hand, reactions in WWE were said to be “all over the place”, with one source saying they were glad the interview took place early in the week so people will forget about it and move on to this weekend’s wrestling. Punk was believed to have not wanted to discuss AEW, but he did expect it to come up. He is not expected to do many media interviews due to his ongoing recovery from a torn tricep.
It was a big night. Check out the interview, plus Punk in both promotions (Punk’s interview begins at about 1:04:20)
Opinion: Punk’s time in AEW started of so well and then blew up in a horrible ending. It was a shame that things did not work out whatsoever in the end as there was quite a bit of promise there. At the same time, his new start in WWE seems to have gone well so as the AEW source said, everyone seems to be happier with how things are going now. Hopefully that continues, as Punk is someone with all kinds of value to offer if he can stay happy.
