Fans, partners, coworkers, and relatives of the late veteran Nollywood actor John Okafor, best known as Mr. Ibu, are grieving as he is being laid to rest.
Gossipinfo reported in March that the veteran actor, who had battle for his life for months, had kicked the bucket. The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas confirmed the news as he revealed he died of Cardiac Arrest. His death threw the industry into mourning as he was the beloved of many and had made our childhood memorable.
On Wednesday, a night of tribute was held for the late actor, which had in attendance many of his colleagues. In photos making rounds online, the actor’s wife and her children were captured looking solemn as they bade their father farewell.
Today, June 27th, a burial ceremony is currently taking place in his hometown of Enugu State where the actor would be laid to rest. In clips and videos making rounds, people could be seen wearing a somber look as the actor is being laid to rest.
Recall that in October, last year, Mr Ibu had cried out to the public for help as he battled an ailment. Music sensations Davido and P-Square, along with the popular personality Tunde Ednut, and former senate president, Bukola Saraki came to his aide.
The actor underwent 7 surgeries which were all successful, and had his leg amputated twice. At some point, his health deteriorated and the actor lost his voice in the process. In January, he was discharged and this left his fans and lovers excited, unfortunately, their joy was shortlived as he gave up the ghost two months later.
