“Heels” is now streaming on Netflix, so the show has new life, as it has received the opportunity to reach more viewers than ever before. Alongside this move, fans have wondered whether the series could somehow cross over with WWE.
Speaking with Joe Otterson for Variety, “Heels” creator Michael Waldron commented on the series’ move to Netflix.
“We often said, ‘Well, s–t, if we were on Netflix, everybody would be watching this thing!” Waldron said. “And now it’s kind of like, alright, the universe called our bluff.”
Waldron also stated that the “Heels” team has had “great conversations” with WWE. Waldron noted that they’re “big fans of the show.”
“I think the really exciting thing is, if we’re able to move forward with the show, we could more properly integrate the WWE into the storyline, as the DWL becomes a competitor,” Waldron said.
WWE Raw is moving to Netflix in January, so the show will be on the same platform as “Heels” in a matter of months.
WWE star CM Punk and other wrestlers appeared throughout the two seasons of “Heels”.
