EXCLUSIVE: Hello From The Magic Tavern, the hit comedy fantasy podcast, is being turned into an animated series.

Sam Rockwell and Mark Berger’s Play Hooky Productions and Starburns Industries, the company behind Rick and Morty, are developing the podcast in cartoon form.

This news comes ahead of the fifth season of the podcast, which returns on March 18.

Hello From The Magic Tavern follows hosts as they interview creatures, wizards, and adventurers in the fantastical land of Foon. Hosted by Arnie Niekamp, the show features a mix of storytelling, improv comedy, and absurdity as Arnie, along with his co-hosts Chunt the shapeshifter and Usidore the wizard, interview various characters from Foon.

The podcast debuted in 2015 and was created by Niekamp, Matt Young and Adal Rifai.

The animated series will follow the unlikely friends, Arnie Niekamp, Usidore the Blue (Young), and Chunt the Talking Badger (Rifai) on adventures throughout the fantastical land of Foon and beyond.

The new season of the podcast will feature the likes of SNL’s Taran Killam, Sam Reich, co-founder of CollegeHumor and Head of Original Content at Dropout; and Kate Welch, game designer, dungeon master, and the Narrative Director of Probably Monsters.

“As soon as we listened to the podcast, we fell in love with this world and these characters and quickly became fans. We can’t wait to continue to build Foon with Arnie, Matt, and Adal and add gorgeous animation from Starburns to the puzzle,” said Sam Rockwell and Mark Berger.

“It’s been a lifelong dream to work with the amazing artists at Starburns and Play Hooky who want to help us create an animated series of Hello from the Magic Tavern, allowing us to tell familiar stories with a new twist in an exciting medium. We can’t wait for our fans to see what we’ve been up to added Niekamp, Young and Rifai.
