Newcastle 1 Arsenal 0 – Saturday 2 November 12.30pm
The photo that Newcastle United fans had all really really wanted to see tonight.
A sweeping move ending with a sublime Anthony Gordon right wing cross and arguably an even better headed finish from Alexander Isak.
What a few days this has been at St James’ Park.
A great win and clean sheet on Wednesday to take Newcastle United through to the last eight of the League Cup, now another clean sheet and taking down title pretenders Arsenal.
Another winning snapshot post-match.
Another photo = The sixth of this season.
The Newcastle United Head Coach introduced this tradition of a post-match everybody included photo following each victory, as he felt it had worked as a bonding exercise when he was at Bournemouth.
(It is actually the seventh victory of the season but for whatever reasons, no winning photo after the win over AFC Wimbledon. Can only guess winning 1-0 at home to League Two opposition might have looked a ‘little’ lame.)
So after having to wait six and a half weeks since the win at Wolves for a fifth winning photo of this season against Chelsea, only three days to wait for this next one against Arsenal. A bit like waiting for a bus, sometimes needing a bit of patience and then two come at once!
Great to see.
It is also a massive bonus just how much it winds up fans of certain other clubs and journalists.
‘Look at them, think they have won the Premier League / Champions League… etc etc’
I absolutely love it.
Twenty eight more Premier League games to go, as well as fingers crossed plenty more cup matches, so hopefully many more of these photos to come.
