Here's Why Olivia Colman Is Not Eligible for Emmys 2024, But Claire Foy Is for 'The Crown' Cameos

Claire Foy won an Emmy Award in 2021 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for reprising her role as Queen Elizabeth on The Crown and she is eligible for the same award this year.

It all has to do with an eligibility rule that the Television Academy recently made for the category.

“The minimum stand-alone and contiguous screen time (performer has an ongoing engagement in the scene, on or off camera) for eligibility is 5% of the total running time of the submitted episode,” the rules state.

Claire and Olivia appear in season six episode “Sleep, Dearie Sleep,” which has a 72-minute run-time. This means that they need to have at least three minutes and 36 seconds of screen time to be eligible. Olivia missed out by seconds, according to Variety.
