For several years, Pierre Ménès was a mainstay for Hervé Mathoux on Canal+. Now, the sports journalist has another shoulder to lean on.

This season, Canal+ has all the TV rights to the European Football Cups, including the Champions League, which began on September 17. The encrypted channel took the opportunity to expand its team of sports journalists and consultants in order to best cover all of these events.

Thus, Bertrand Latour was poached from The Team Channel. Last Sunday, the man who could succeed Pierre Ménès in the role of the sniper made his big debut on the “Canal Football Club”. A show of which Hervé Mathoux has remained the star presenter since 2008.

Hervé Mathoux and Laure Boulleau, a solid duo

The latter can always rely on Laure Boulleau, whom he considers a “pillar”. “When she arrived with us, she of course had her legitimacy as a former player but she became much more than a consultant,

he confesses during an interview given to Eurosport. With her relevance, she has taken the space and is now an irremovable holder.

For three years now, Samir Nasri has also been an important element of this system. “He can talk to you about the right-back of Slovan Bratislava but also about tactics because he also has a coach’s eye, underlines Hervé Mathoux. And on top of that, there is this possibility of ‘playing’ with him on set because he is a good client.” The “Canal Champions Club”, the European version of the “Canal Football Club”, broadcasts matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
