A Bishop and Coordinator of the High Church of Africa (HICA), Bishop Dr Nutifafa Takyi, has said the church has the responsibility to provide both the spiritual and physical needs of their followers in order to enable them to worship God with total commitment and willingness to propagate the gospel in a peaceful environment.
Bishop Dr Takyi stated that the church could not survive and propagate effectively the gospel if it only concentrated on the spiritual needs of members, hence addressing both the spiritual and physical needs of members to address their economic difficulties to reduce poverty and unemployment among the youth in the country.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of HICA Mineral Water factory at Agortime-Beh in the Agortime-Ziope District of the Volta Region, which also coincided with the two years anniversary of HICA and 64th anniversary of God’s mission.
According to him, the mission of the church was to transform lives of people in the church and communities in the catchment areas, where the church was established, adding that the underground mechanised water system had the capacity to produce 10,000 litres of water a day as well as produced 1,500 bags of sachet water in eight hours.
Bishop Dr Takyi also indicated that the TAWA Ventures Mineral water factory, produced the most quality water in the Volta Region, saying the agenda of the church, which was to propagate the gospel, create jobs and reduce poverty, would be achieved to improve the economic life of the people.
He emphasised that the church could not effectively propagate the gospel to people who suffered from abject poverty, and was with the view that people would worship God effectively in a peaceful environment, saying the church remained as a non-profit making organisation and would continue to address the development challenges that confront society in order to ensure peace and propagation of the gospel could thrive without difficulties.
Furthermore, Bishop Dr Takyi was expressed the view that, addressing poverty among the congregation and communities would pave the way for people to appreciate the need to worship God in truth, for stable and harmonious society.
The Warlord of Agortime traditional area, Nene Akoto Sah VII, who inaugurated the sachet water factory lauded the activities of HICA for its visionary leadership, adding that it was difficult to see a church building a factory to employ unemployed members of the church and the community, and said the chiefs and people appreciated the efforts of the church aimed at propagation of the gospel over the past two years.
Nene Akoto Sah said the TAWA Ventures water factory of the church would help reduce the difficulties the people in the Agortime traditional area faced in getting access to potable water over the years as the factory would somehow serve the interest of the people but would not be able to meet the water needs of about 50,000 residents in the area.
According to the chief, the people of the traditional area had no access to quality source of water, and had depended on the river Tordzie, which was unhygienic water source, saying several appeals were made to governments but all failed to address the problem
