Hiroshi Tanahashi missed NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo due to injury, but he agreed to face Nic Nemeth once he recovers.
Prior to the February 24 event, NJPW announced that Hiroshi Tanahashi was unable to compete, as he sustained an ankle injury. He had been set to wrestle in Kazuchika Okada’s final NJPW match at the show.
During NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo, Nic Nemeth challenged Tanahashi to face him for his newly-won IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. Tanahashi accepted and agreed to face him once he recovered.
Tanahashi is also the President and Representative Director of NJPW. He lost the NJPW World TV Championship to Matt Riddle at NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo on February 23.
