EXCLUSIVE: Homejacking, the French series created by Lupin writers Tigran Rosine and Florent Meyer in collaboration with Emmanuelle Faguer, has sold to Italian broadcast giant RAI. Beta Film is distributing and sealed the deal for the drama, which played in the French Competition at Series Mania last year.
Heading into this year’s Series Mania, RAI has picked up several titles from Beta. The Italian public broadcaster RAI has snagged a pair of YA series, Prisma and Rumors and various crime dramas as well as Homejacking.
A six-part series for OCS in France, Homejacking follows events that ensue after an intruder wearing a pink balaclava breaks into the high-end home of a wealthy couple and holds them hostage. The edgy thriller is produced by Christine de Bourbon Busset and Marc Missionnier’s Paris-based label Lincoln TV.
Coming-of-age drama Prisma, which explores identity, aspiration, physical appearance and sexual orientation among a group of teenagers, is made by Cross Productions, which is part of the Beta Group. Rumors also revolves around a group of teenagers, this time on a small island in Norway. It is produced by Mothership Entertainment.
Other premium dramas from Beta heading to RAI include Rapa, the Spanish scripted series from the creators of Hierro. The Galicia-set crime thriller follows a high school teacher and local cop who become an unlikely team on a murder case. It was produced by Spanish pay-TV outfit Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with Portocabo.
Several crime-themed miniseries and TV movies are also headed to RAI, with Murder In The Valley and Crimes Of Crete part of the package of titles acquired from Beta.
