The Ogun State Police Command has condemned the violent attack on Osuke Village, Ota, where yet-to-be-identified gunmen killed a 24-year-old man, Saheed Jinadu Shoboyede.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, describing the attack as “senseless and brutal.”

She assured that an investigation had been launched to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.

According to the police, the attack was reported by one Olusoji Jinadu of Iju Mosque Compound, Osuke Ota.

He told the police that on February 27, at about 8 am, a group of armed hoodlums led by a man identified as Elijah stormed the Muslim Prayer Ground in the community, firing indiscriminately and causing panic among residents.

Odutola said, “Tragically, the complainant’s son, Saheed Jinadu Shoboyede, was hit by a bullet.

“He was rushed to the State General Hospital, Ota, where a doctor on duty confirmed him dead. His remains have been preserved for an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.”

She added that police operatives who visited the crime scene recovered three expended cartridges and two spent AK-47 rounds.

Odutola reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement by providing useful information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.

“Anyone with relevant information should contact the nearest police station or call the command’s emergency lines,” she added.
