The Parenting, a horror comedy from director Craig Johnson (The Skeleton Twins), is set to debut on streaming as a Max Original on Thursday, March 13.
A streaming premiere date for the film has been long awaited, as the New Line title was shot back in 2022.
Pic follows young couple Rohan (Nik Dodani) and Josh (Brandon Flynn) as they plan a perfect weekend getaway in the country to introduce their parents. As tensions begin to flare between the more traditional Sharon (Edie Falco) and Frank (Brian Cox) and the laid-back Liddy (Lisa Kudrow) and Cliff (Dean Norris), the families soon realize that their rental – managed by eccentric local Brenda (Parker Posey) – is haunted by the presence of a 400-year-old poltergeist. When one parent becomes thoroughly possessed, it’s up to the young couple and their meddlesome BFF Sara (Vivian Bang) to unite the families and stop the evil entity once and for all.
Written by Kent Sublette, the film is produced by Chris Bender and Jake Weiner. Richard Brener, Chris Pan, David Neustadter, and Jared Ian Goldman served as executive producers. Max announced earlier today that A24’s horror film Heretic, from Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, will begin streaming on March 7, debuting on HBO linear on Saturday, March 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
