Heading into the new season, Barcelona completed one of the club’s main objectives – registering two of their key young players Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.

The two youth products, who were signed for the youth team and the reserve team, are now formal members of the Barcelona first team, the club confirmed.

This was a key milestone for Barça, considering how tricky it has been for the team to register even existing players, let alone new signings.

How Barcelona managed to register Yamal & Cubarsi

A recent report from Cadena SER has offered a thorough explanation as to how Barcelona were able to register both Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.

It appears the club referred to a special article in La Liga’s regulation to register these two youngsters.

To be precise, Barça referred to Article 73, which specifies that clubs will be allowed to register footballers who explode into the scene unexpectedly and increase their value significantly.

That is exactly what happened to both Yamal and Cubarsi this past season. Yamal, in fact, enjoyed the most valuation increase than any player in Europe during 2023/24 while Cubarsi, too, is regarded as one of the finest defensive talents in the world.

Barcelona have a deadline

Thanks to this, Barcelona were able to register Yamal and Cubarsi. However, their registrations are only momentary and Barcelona have been given a deadline to ensure they have enough capital to truly register these players.

Barça have until June 30, 2025 to raise enough capital to register both Yamal and Cubarsi, which shouldn’t be much of a challenge for the Blaugrana.

The club, however, are not in a position to register any more new players until they free up salary mass this summer.
