Antony’s high-profile transfer from Ajax to Manchester United could go down as one of the worst Premier League transfers ever.

Manchester United hasn’t had a good return on investment since the Brazilian joined the squad in 2022 for an astounding £85 million.

It is one of the most expensive signings in the history of the club and possibly the worst of them all.

As a result of Antony’s lack of success at Old Trafford, Steve Kay stated in a KS1TV interview that United had the choice to sign a different player 18 months ago.

In place of Antony, Kay says, United could have easily signed Mohammed Kudus, the former Ajax player who currently plays for West Ham, but they went with the Brazilian.

“There’s also been some poor signings, but I think you said that the only reason they got Antony is because he went to the scouts and they had nobody for him,” The host said.

“No, Garth, I know for a fact that he could’ve had Kudus instead of Antony, it was one or the other and I will tell you what, I’d take Kudus over Antony,” Kay said.

Mohammed Kudus made a £38 million summer transfer to West Ham. Since moving, he has been an immediate hit at the London Stadium. In 16 Premier League games this season, the Ghanaian international has netted six goals and bagged one assist for the Hammers.

He is shining under former Man United manager David Moyes and looks like one of the signings of the season.

With Sancho on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Amad Diallo not getting enough game time and Antony not creating enough output, United could have benefited with a player like Kudus.
