How Old is Miss Huang in 'Severance'? Actress Sarah Bock Comments on Her Age on Show & Real Life

Miss Huang is the mysterious new character on the Apple TV+ show Severance played by newcomer Sarah Bock and everyone is probably wondering how old she is on the show and in real life.

Adam Scott‘s Mark S is introduced to Miss Huang (no, not Miss Wong) during his first day back at Lumon following the events at the end of season one. She has taken over as Deputy Manager for Mr. Milchick, who now is the Floor Manager following the ousting of Harmony Cobel.

So, how old is she? And why is a child working at Lumon?

In real life, Sarah Bock is currently 18-years-old and she is a freshman at Northwestern University.

Severance season one began filming in October 2022 and Sarah was only 15-years-old when she got the audition in August 2022.

“She’s definitely younger than my actual age, but I’m not exactly sure how old she is,” Sarah told Variety. We now know that Miss Huang is likely several years younger than 15.

Fans have been theorizing that the character could be the child of two innies whose outies are unaware that they have a child in the Lumon world. Another theory is that Lumon could be adopting orphans and putting them to work as severed workers.

Sarah has talked about how the character changed from the initial script to when they started filming.

“She was a little bit more of how you would expect a child to typically act — like, maybe a little bit nervous or timid and out of her element,” Sarah told Variety. “But as we played around with it, even on my first day of filming, I wasn’t exactly sure how they wanted the character to be, but there was a specific moment when we were doing the ball game scene with Mark S. Ben told me to just stare at Mark for a really long time, almost like an eye-contact contest. He was like, ‘Once it feels like you’re staring for too long, stare for like three seconds longer.’ And it was in that moment that I started to understand who she was, and started to understand that maybe she’s not your typical teenager in the situation — she’s a little bit more powerful than that.”
