It’s officially fall, which means it’s time for Apple’s most awaited event of the yearits new iPhone launch. At an event titled ‘It’s Glowtime,’ the new slate of iPhones will be unveiled at the Cupertino company’s headquarters in California on Monday, September 9, at 10 a.m. PT or 1 p.m. ET. You can watch the livestream on YouTube or stay tuned on Gizmodo for our live event coverage.

The event’s name refers to the revamped interface of the company’s virtual assistant, Siri. After years of being tragically underwhelming, Siri will allegedly finally stop being dumb and receive an Apple Intelligence-powered glowup. But we might have to wait a little longer to enjoy its true genius.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple doesn’t usually hold this event on a Monday, but it had to slightly change its course this year owing to two events on Tuesday that it probably didn’t want to share its spotlight with. The next day, we will see a presidential debate and the EU’s decision on whether Apple must pay $14 billion in taxes to Ireland for a years-long legal battle.

What Should We Expect from It’s Glowtime 2024?

The new iPhone 16 series will be the show’s star today. Rumors suggest four new models: the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. The Pro models this year will reportedly sport larger displays than the base models, as opposed to the last few years where the Pro and regular models offered the same sized screens. The Action button introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro will also likely be seen on the iPhone 16. Performance-wise, Apple will apparently follow suit and give its new iPhones an upgraded chip, the A18 Bionic.

The AirPods are also rumored to receive (much-awaited) upgrades. Apple will supposedly ditch its two mid-tier offerings, the 2nd and 3rd gen AirPods, and replace them with two new models. The new models (AirPods 4?) will allegedly share design similarities with the current AirPods Pro 2. They will also feature a host of standard upgrades, such as a refined charging case and improved audio quality. To follow the EU’s new law on a universal charging standard, these will possibly switch from a Lightning port to Type-C.

Apple is also said to bring one of the biggest updates to its watch in a really long time. Seemingly, it will refresh its entire watch lineup at once and reveal a new budget Apple Watch SE, a mid-range Series 10, and a premium Ultra 3.
