Howard Stern reacts to Jerry Seinfeld’s ‘awkward’ diss and apology

Nearly one week after the “Seinfeld” alum made headlines for claiming the “Howard Stern Show” host isn’t funny — and quickly saying sorry — Stern assured his listeners that the diss wasn’t “a big deal.”

However, the radio personality did acknowledge that he thought Seinfeld’s negative comment was “weird” at first.

“Jerry is a personal friend of ours,” Stern explained. “Especially his wife, Jessica [Seinfeld], is really good friends with [my wife], Beth [Stern].”

Howard, who decided to cut his pal some slack due to the “Seinfeld” alum having a “really bad week,” quickly heard from Jerry.

“[He] called me immediately and was like, ‘Oh, f—k, I f—ked up, and I want to apologize,” Howard recalled. “He goes, ‘You know when you’re on the air, and s—t just comes out wrong?”

As Jerry attempted to explain his insult — a claim on the May 8 episode of the “Fly on the Wall” podcast that Howard is “outflanked” by other comedians — the SiriusXM star interrupted him.

“Jerry, you don’t even have to. Please. This is embarrassing,” Howard said. “I’m the king of going on the air and having millions of regrets afterward.

“Apology accepted, I don’t care, and you know what?” he continued. “If I’m not a comedian, I’m an interviewer, I don’t know what I am. I always considered myself a bit of a comedian, but whatever it is, don’t worry about it.”

Jerry, who “apologized for a really long time,” asked to come on the “Howard Stern Show” to correct his comment.

“I said, ‘Not necessary, I don’t wanna get into it. It’s awkward, it’s fine,’” Howard noted. “I said, ‘I’ve had to apologize to you for s—t I’ve said, I’ve had to call up people and apologize for s—t I’ve done on the air when I’m a huge fan of these people. I don’t know what gets into me, I f—k up sometimes.”

He claimed he “didn’t really think much about it.”

Jerry initially issued an apology on May 8, immediately after appearing on the David Spade and Dana Carvey’s podcast.

“I really feel bad for what I said about my friend Howard Stern … talking about the glut of comedy podcasts,” he told Page Six at the time.

“It was bad and I’m sorry, Howie,” Jerry concluded. “I still love you. Please forgive me.”
