The American dream is about to turn into a nightmare for many French people living in Los Angeles. While the French consulate in LA estimates that between 25,000 and 30,000 fellow citizens are settled there, nearly 2,000 of them live in areas threatened or ravaged by the fires affecting the surroundings of the Californian city.
Some celebrities, like Laetita Halliday or Patrick Bruel, have seen their house go up in flames and many others are concerned. This is particularly the case of Hugo Lloris, who joined Los Angeles FC last winter. The former Blues goalkeeper has in fact settled with his family in a plush residence in the Encino district, a modern villa of 550 square meters offering five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a basketball court and a swimming pool.
If he only rents – at a rate of 30,000 dollars per month – this house estimated at 5 million euros and owned by a Sacramento Kings player and if he seems to have returned to France during the holidays, the Lloris are carefully following the evolution of the situation. This is evidenced by the messages published by his wife on Instagram.
A fire just six kilometers away
The wife of the Nice doorman posted photos of the Pacific Palisades and Hollywood Hills neighborhoods, completely ravaged by the flames, and relayed a message of thanks to the LA firefighters who have been working for several days.
Located in northern Los Angeles, not far from Universal Studios, is under threat from several outbreaks, one of which is six kilometers away. If the authorities are reassuring for the moment and if the population of the neighborhood is not affected by the evacuations, the situation could deteriorate during the weekend, according to forecasters.
