Hulk Hogan has been accused of racism again, this time by an influencer let go by Real American Beer.
The WWE Hall of Famer recently launched his own line of beer. Real American Beer launched last month, taking its name from Hogan’s iconic WWE theme song.
However, they are now in hot water with accusations of racism by a TikTok influencer.
Accusations against Hogan
In one TikTok video, Essence Jenai claimed that Hulk Hogan canceled her role as a brand ambassador for his Real American Beer after finding out she was Black.
“POV: Hulk Hogan paid you to be a brand ambassador and cancelled your contract the next day because he realized you were a BLACK brand ambassador”, she wrote.
In a second video, she revealed that they had replaced her with two white influencers instead. Essence Jenai also posted a screenshot of a conversation about the firing. She was told all her events were canceled, although she did nothing wrong.
“Hulk Hogan paid me to be a brand ambassador and this happened” she wrote. “My contract was for a week. After one day of promoting his brand, he cancelled my contract because? IDK why… but these are the new brand ambassadors he hired…”
This is not a good look for Hogan. It is unknown how much influence he actually has on the day-to-day running of the company. However, it is not a good look, given his history of making racist comments toward Black people in the past.
In 2015, Hogan was caught on tape saying the n-word in a racist rant that was previously recorded in 2007. At the time, WWE terminated their contract with him. Hogan also apologized and asked for forgiveness. WWE later reinstated him into the Hall of Fame in 2018. Since then, he has made multiple appearances for the company.
Real American Beer Denied Any Racism Or Hulk Hogan Involvement In The Decision
Real American Beer was quick to deny any rumors of racism in the decision. The company also denied Hulk Hogan had anything to do with the decision.
A spokesman for the brand issued a statement to Fightful to clear up the situation. They claimed that race wasn’t a factor and Hogan had no input. As they tell it, this was a decision made with a third-party marketing agency.
“We are deeply troubled by the false rumor circulating on social media that a brand ambassador hired by a third-party marketing agency was terminated by Hulk Hogan for racial reasons. Real American Beer simply terminated its short-term relationship with the third-party marketing agency. Hulk Hogan was not involved in that decision, and race was not a factor. We are in communication with the agency in an attempt to clear the misunderstanding and incorrect information, and believe that this false statement will be withdrawn.”
