Hulk Hogan is paying the price for his decades in the wrestling business.
The legendary wrestler has recently signed a new five-year contract with the WWE, but don’t expect to see him wrestle any time soon. The 70-year-old hasn’t wrestled since 2013, and the amount of surgeries he’s had on his back has left his struggling to walk at time.
Hulk Hogan spoke with Logan Paul on the IMPAULSIVE Podcast, and discussed the various surgeries he has had in recent years.
The WWE Hall of Famer revealed he has had 25 surgeries in the past decade, including ten on his back alone.
He went on to explain how hard the rings were to bump in back in his day. He revealed that Andre The Giant would warn him not take bumps on certain rings, in case he hurt himself.
“I’ve had like 25 surgeries in the last ten years. 10 of them were back surgeries.” Hulk Hogan revealed. “Nobody told me this gimmick stuff was fake. I’ve had 10 back surgeries, both knees and both hips replaced, shoulders—everything.”
“But at the end of the day, the equipment back in the day when I started wrestling in ’77 was a little different than the rings and stuff you guys are working in now. Andre used to tell me, ‘Boss, don’t fall down. You won’t get back up.’ It was like a 22-foot boxing ring that had lumps in it, boards sticking up—it was horrible.” Hulk Hogan added.
Hulk Hogan Thinks Logan Paul Can Be One Of The Best Babyfaces
Later in the interview, Hulk Hogan heaped praise on Logan Paul.
The WWE Hall of Famer said he was a really cool heel, but thought the YouTube star could be one of the “best babyfaces ever” when he eventually turns face in the future.
“Watching what you’re doing, you have a certain air about you. You’re a really good heel naturally, and what is so cool, you’re going to make one of the best babyfaces ever when they turn you because the more heat you get, the more they hate you, you’re gonna be an awesome babyface,” he said. “For instance, Bloodline now, they’re starting to cheer for Roman. Roman comes back, Bloodline pounds the shit out of him, [Paul] hits the ring to save Roman. It would get him over bam, instantly. Instantly babyface. It’d be Hulk Hogan babyface personified.”
