Hulk Hogan and his Real American Beer Company are being sued for negligence by an Akron woman after she was hit in the head with a sealed can of beer last year.
The woman, Michelle Harlukowicz, claims she attended promotional event for Real American Beer at Thirsty Cowboys, a live music bar in Medina, Ohio, on August 19, 2024. At the event, Harlukowicz claims that Hogan and another promoter were throwing beer cans into the audience in an effort to rile up the crowd, when one struck her in the head.
“It’s unconscionable to think that you’re going to go to a bar to see a celebrity and end up being pelted with it with a can of beer,” attorney Eric Tayfel, who is representing Harlukowicz, said (via Fox 8 News). “She had an open wound to her forehead. It was pretty big. She ended up needing a number of stitches to her head, and she’s going to have some permanent scarring from that.”
Photos of the injury were also made public, and show Harlukowicz with a can-shaped injury to the top of her forehead, which was stitched up. The lawsuit is alleging that Hogan or someone promoting the event threw the can, with Thirsty Cowboys owner Aaron Lind also named in the lawsuit.
“How does a responsible company allow full cans of beer to be thrown into a crowd of its guests,” Tayfel said, as his client is seeking damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and emotional distress. “First of all, we want some accountability. He is still touring around hocking his beer. We certainly don’t want to have this happen to anyone else.”
