Hulu Originals is staying in the dating show lane by picking up a new reality dating series called Virgin Island.

From producers ITV America (Love Island USA, Queer Eye) and Plimsoll Productions (Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters, A Real Bug’s Life), Virgin Island promises a “stunningly attractive and confident” group of singles who have yet to embark in some hibity-dibity.

The point of the show is to help them search for “the one” on a tropical aisle. They have 10 episodes to make a love match.

Hulu promises unexpected twists, new arrivals and departures, all of which will culminate “in a dramatic finale where burgeoning relationships are put to the test.”

Virgin Island is being produced by ITV America and Plimsoll Productions. Executive producers for ITV America are David George and Adam Sher; for Plimsoll, executive producers are Grant Mansfield, Karen Plumb and Alan Eyres. Peter Geist also serves as executive producer.

On Monday, it was revealed that Hulu bought the Dannii Minogue-hosted I Kissed a Boy and follow-up I Kissed a Girl – the UK’s first ever queer dating series. The reality series, which has drawn plaudits for its open-book approach to queer issues coupled with high drama, was acquired as part of a package for the streamer’s Hulu Has Pride LGBTQ+ month.

In 2022, Hulu picked up Back in the Groove. Hosted by Taye Diggs, the show followed three women in their 40s who check into The Groove Hotel, a resort on an island of the Dominican Republic. The goal was to rediscover their youth, live joyously, and hopefully find love with men half their age.

It marked the first unscripted Hulu Original series under the Walt Disney Television Alternative Banner. The show lasted for one season.
