Tuesday night’s Premier League affairs saw Luton Town’s 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion rank them higher than Manchester United in terms of goals scored.

Whilst of course, this is a testament to the resurgent job the Hatters are doing in their first-ever PL campaign, with them now sitting outside the bottom three, it also showcases just how utterly dismal United have been upfront this term.

The Red Devils have scored 24 goals in 21 matches – the lowest of any team above the relegation zone. They’re level with Everton, so only Burnley and Sheffield United have netted less than the 20-time champions.

In turn, conceding 29 goals has left United with a -5 goal difference, making them the only side in the top 10 to be in the minus on that statistic.

Given that Erik ten Hag has spent around £407 million on bolstering his squad since his tenure began – albeit some has been allocated on the backline – you’d be forgiven for questioning if the funds could’ve been put to better use (hint: £86m on Antony) or who in the coaching staff is leading the finishing drills in training.
