Hurricane Helene Hits Florida Theme Parks: Peppa Pig Park Closes, Disney World Updates Expected

As Hurricane Helene barrels through Florida, the state’s theme parks are responding.

Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida announced that it will be closing its doors on Friday, September 27, after the storm damaged attractions at the preschool experience.

“The safety and comfort of our guests and employees is our top priority. Guests who already have tickets are advised to check the rainy day promise on our website,” the park told visitors.

Hurricane Helene is producing winds of up to 140mph and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has warned that more deaths are likely after a driver was killed by debris.

Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp said two people died in Wheeler County. “We urge all Georgians to brace for further impact from Helene, remain vigilant, and pray for all those affected,” he said.

Other major theme parks in Florida are likely to issue updates on Friday morning, including the Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon temporarily closed on Thursday, while the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was canceled.

The Universal Orlando Resort said it anticipated a “full reopening” after the storm hit certain attractions on Friday. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios were halted and Universal Volcano Bay was closed.

SeaWorld Orlando shut at 2PM on Thursday but is expected to reopen on Friday. Busch Gardens Tampa, Adventure Island, and Aquatica Orlando are expected to welcome visitors after shutting on Thursday.

Legoland Florida Resort was operating normally on Thursday.
