Hyderabad: The government is currently studying famous Mahatma Gandhi statues in Texas, USA, and Patna, Bihar, to finalize a design for a large Gandhi statue to be installed at Bapu Ghat in Hyderabad.

One of the statues being studied is an eight-foot bronze statue of Gandhi in Houston, Texas. This statue is unique and shows Gandhi walking during the Dandi March, symbolizing peace and harmony. Officials say it is the largest Gandhi statue outside India, and they are looking closely at its design.

Another statue under review is the 72-foot Mahatma Gandhi statue in Patna, Bihar, which is the largest Gandhi statue in India. Officials want to compare it with other statues in both India and abroad before deciding on the final design. In Telangana, a 22-foot statue of Gandhi sitting in a yoga posture is already present at the state assembly premises.

Sources indicate that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy plans to install India’s tallest Gandhi statue, similar in scale to the 182-meter Sardar Patel statue in Gujarat. Civic authorities are working quickly to develop a design for the statue, which will be placed at Bapu Ghat, where the Esa and Musa rivers meet in Hyderabad.
