A Kannywood actor and producer, Usman Uzee, says he acted in the movie, ‘Anikulapo’, to let people know that he is a Yoruba man and can speak the language.

During an interview with Sunday Scoop, the actor who has featured in films such as Oga Abuja, Maja, The Voiceless, and The Milkmaid, stated that he had never been to his home state, Kwara. He said, “I am half-Yoruba and half-Hausa. My mum is Fulani from Zaria (Kaduna State), and my dad is from Kwara State. However, we (children) were all born and brought up in the north. Actually, I have never been to my hometown, Kwara State. However, I featured in the movie series— Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre—by Kunle Afolayan, and people will see me speaking Yoruba for the first time in a movie.”

Sharing his experience working on the blockbuster movie, A Tribe Called Judah, the actor said, “First, I must thank Funke Akindele (the producer), because she called me for the job about two years ago.

“While on set, she made sure we (actors) brought the script to life. She assisted all the actors to make sure everything we did on set came out well. I am happy that everybody liked it.”
