Andy Cole is perplexed by Marcus Rashford’s ongoing struggles this season and has debated whether he could thrive at another club.

The Manchester United star has come under fire at numerous points this season for his costly misses, body language and off-the-pitch debacles.

It comes after the most prolific campaign of Rashford’s career, in which he netted 30 goals for the first time and notched 11 assists in all competitions, all while playing an integral role in ending the side’s six-year trophy drought – he scored in every round of the Carabao Cup including the final – reaching the FA Cup final and claiming a third-placed league finish.

He was rewarded for his efforts at the end of the term when he penned a five-year deal in July 2023, seeing his wage upped to a reported £325,000 per week.

Since then, Rashford has failed to replicate the same form, tallying just five goals and six assists in 31 appearances across 2023/2024.

Cole weighs in on Rashford’s woes

Already planning for life without star man Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain have been tipped to reignite their interest in the 26-year-old this summer, and former Red Andy Cole weighed in on whether Rashford could flourish in a new environment.

“I don’t know,” the treble winner responded, as per DAZN. “The only person you can get an honest answer from is Marcus. His form last season was exceptional and his form this season has been the complete opposite of that. I don’t know why because I don’t know what’s going on in his personal life, whether he’s enjoying his football or not or whether he still enjoys playing for Manchester United.

“What my mindset would be is not the same as what his would be, so I don’t like speculating about a player’s mindset. Whatever he or Manchester United decide to do this summer will be decided by both parties.”
