Accused of rape and attempted rape by 6 women in Manchester, Benjamin Mendy was finally found not guilty on July 14, 2023.
Now back on the field, the former Manchester City player now intends to take justice into his own hands and did not hesitate, in this sense, to charge the Mancunian club. During an interview given to The TelegraphMendy also admitted to having gone through a delicate period financially where he encountered major difficulties.
“ I struggled to pay my child support when the club stopped paying me after I was charged in 2021. I felt bad. Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez all lent me money to help me try to pay my legal fees and support my family,”
he declared. Strong words which should make the English champion react.
Still not played this season
Benjamin Mendy made his return last summer to Ligue 1 and more precisely to FC Lorient. And for now, the Frenchman has not played a single match since the start of the 2024-2025 Ligue 2 financial year. The date of his return is not yet known. However, Les Merlus are in second place behind Paris FC with 16 points on the clock. The objective is clear: find the elite as quickly as possible.
