It’s one of the big moves of this summer transfer window. Argentinian striker Julian Alvarez has left Manchester City to join Atletico Madrid.

A transfer estimated at 95 million euros. The 2022 world champion has signed a 6-year contract with the Colchoneros.

Upon his arrival, during an interview with the official website, the former citizens did not hide his joy at having joined the Spanish championship and one of its most legendary clubs. The Argentinian striker took the opportunity to display his great ambitions with the Madrid club.

“I am very happy, very excited to be here. I really liked the way I was welcomed in the city, in the club. So I am very happy and I have big goals. From the beginning, I received a lot of messages, a lot of things from the fans. As I said when I arrived at the airport, a lot of people came to welcome me, others came to the stadium. It is great to start my adventure like this. Now it will be up to me not to disappoint them on the pitch. I will give my all to be the best player possible, to help the team win and for Atlético de Madrid to stay at the top,” he let go.

Before continuing: “I want to thank everyone, because I’ve already seen a lot of messages on social media, from people who have come here to Madrid to greet me, to show me their affection, their support, to say thank you. If there’s one thing I can promise, it’s to always do my best, to give the best of myself on the pitch to help the team and win with this shirt.”

The winner of the 2024 Copa America with Argentina is expected to make his La Liga debut this Monday in the match against Villarreal in the first day of the championship.
