EXCLUSIVE: Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols and Gabbriette have rounded out the cast of Sony Pictures’ highly anticipated sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer. They join previously announced castmembers Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King with Freddie Prinze Jr. set to reprise role and the original film’s star Jennifer Love Hewitt is in talks to return. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is directing the follow up to the horror film franchise, which is written by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson off a draft by Leah McKendrick.
Neal Moritz is producing. Sony Pictures will release the film in theaters on July 18, 2025.
The original film follows four young friends (played by Prinze Jr., Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe) bound by a tragic accident who are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.
I Know What You Did Last Summer, loosely based on the Lois Duncan novel of the same name, was a hit that led to the development of the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, which premiered in 1998. A direct-to-video third installment of the franchise titled I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006) is considered a stand-alone sequel as the story diverged from the first two installments and had no original cast reprising their roles.

Chavez is coming off his scene stealing role in Ryan Murphy’s limited series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story, which immediately became Netflix’s #1 show in the U.S. for two consecutive weeks. Chavez also stars in Murphy’s newest horror drama series, Grotesquerie, which premiered September 25 on FX and is streaming on Hulu. Chavez received critical acclaim for his role as “Spencer Cassadine” on the long-running soap opera “General Hospital,” which earned him the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series in 2022.
Nichols will next be seen in the upcoming Netflix film, The Six Triple Eight directed by Tyler Perry. Nichols’ notable film credits include in the independent feature The Walking Dead, Iron Orchard, Glordy Road, The Day After Tomorrow and Wimbledon.
Gabbriette is an American model and musician and I Know What You Did Last Summer represents Gabbriette’s feature film acting debut.
