Barcelona have been drawn up against Paris Saint-Germain for the quarter-finals of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League season, with the first leg set to take place at the Parc des Princes and the return fixture at the Olympic Montjuic.
Should they be able to progress from there, Barcelona will have to take on the winner of Atletico Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund, with bookies placing their bets on the former after their win against Inter Milan in the round of 16.
But before that takes place, Barcelona will need to overcome Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano this weekend.
Diego Simeone’s side will head into the clash with a lot of confidence, and will especially be seeking revenge on Joao Felix, who scored in this tie at Barcelona’s home.
The Portuguese spoke to DAZN, ahead of the game and detailed every single aspect of the clash.
“It’s going to be a very complicated environment for the whole team. It’s going to be a little worse against me, but I’m a footballer and I have to be used to this kind of thing. It motivates me more, I like these important and spicy games, there is an extra motivation,” he said, as relayed by SPORT.
“The trip home was already difficult and there it will be even more so. They defend and go against it very well and the stands will help them a lot.”
Felix was also quizzed about Barcelona’s form, and whether Xavi’s announcement about resignation is the reason behind the nine-game unbeaten run so far.
“I don’t think it has anything to do with the results. We are playing the same and with the same training, the same ideas, but it’s football. Things weren’t going well and now they were, but it’s not because he said he’s leaving,” he replied.
Finally, Felix talked about his future, and the possibility of continuing at the club beyond the summer once his loan tenure ends.
“For now I’m focused here and I don’t think any further, because it all depends on how it goes to the end.”
