The flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to reduce electricity charges by 50 per cent when he wins the upcoming presidential elections.

He said his government would massively invest in solar energy to provide cheaper electricity to Ghanaians when the governing NPP is voted to break the 8.

Speaking at a rally at the Dansoman Tony Park at the Ablekuma West Constituency in Accra on Monday, after touring some projects in the municipality, he said such an initiative would reduce the burdens on companies, manufacturers, and households.

Additionally, the flagbearer, who is also the Vice President, said his government would fully operationalise electric vehicles to help reduce transport fares by 40 per cent as fuel prices on the international market keep on escalating.

He said the next NPP government would introduce initiatives and policies that would make living conditions flexible for Ghanaians to enable them to enjoy life.

Dr Bawumia said he would introduce flat rate port charges on imported products, which would enable importers to pay cheaper than that of neighbouring country, Togo.

He explained that this would ensure that goods and services become cheaper to the ordinary Ghanaian and reduce the burden on importers.

He said with the introduction of the GhanaCard, Ghanaians would not be required to fill out any form when applying for a passport, as the GhanaCard would be the only requirement to renew their passport.

He said this would make it easier for every Ghanaian to acquire a passport as the GhanaCard has all the information needed, including a person’s biometric data.

Dr Bawumia, who was welcomed into the constituency with a massive crowd, said, so far, about 18 million Ghana cards have been issued by the National Identification Authority (NIA), stressing that currently, every Ghanaian living abroad and has his or her passport missing could use the GhanaCard to return home.

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Divine Agorhum said the NPP would win massively in the region, following the launch of the party’s manifesto which had receives positive responses from Ghanaians.

The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, said the NPP had far better than the NDC and believes the party would win the upcoming general elections.

She asked the electorate to massively vote for the Party’s parliamentary candidates to enable the party to get massive representatives in parliament to help push for government businesses

Other members of the party present at the rally were the National Chairman, Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, Senior Campaign Aide to Dr Bawumia, Mr Sammi Awuku, Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma Central, Jefferson Sackey, and other members of the party hierarchy.
