Ian Wright has weighed in on Manchester United’s top-four hopes after a tumultuous season at Old Trafford.
Currently, the Red Devils sit nine points away from Aston Villa with a game in hand due to last weekend’s FA Cup action, as well as six points behind Tottenham Hotspur after 28 matches played for both.
Spurs and Villa have both stuttered in their recent matches, with the former suffering a 3-0 loss to Fulham and the latter having picked up just one point in their past two outings.
Meanwhile, United are on the back of a 2-0 home win against Everton, although that did come after two straight defeats at the hands of Fulham and Manchester City.
They take on Brentford at the Gtech Stadium upon their return from the international break, followed by Chelsea and Liverpool.
Wright talks top-four race
Wright weighed in on the race for the Champions League places, surprisingly claiming that Erik ten Hag’s men are in with a shout to pip the other contenders to a fourth-placed finish.
“I think Man Utd have got the easiest run in,” the England legend said, as cited by the Premier League. “If they can garner anything from that result the other day, I think they’ve got a very good chance.”
