Eddie Howe has been talking about Alexander Isak ahead of this upcoming West Ham match.

The Newcastle United Head Coach believes the striker can be one of the ‘world’s best’ if he continues the progress he has made, especially since arriving at St James’ Park.

Alexander Isak has scored 35 goals in 53 Premier League starts (plus eight sub appearances.

Five of those 35 PL goals have come in the three matches the striker has played against West Ham.

An interesting international break for Alexander Isak, as he made it five scoring games in a row for club and country, in the win over Slovakia on Saturday.

Indeed, in his 14 appearances for Newcastle United and Sweden, Alexander Isak had registered an excellent 12 direct goal involvements, scoring nine goals and getting three assists.

With Sweden having finished top of the Nations League group and Azerbaijan rock bottom, fair to say that the Newcastle United striker was confident of making it six scoring matches in a row on Tuesday night.

Kulusevski opened the scoring for Sweden after only 10 minutes, then Gyokeres added two more in the 26th and 37th minutes.

Then it was Alexander Isak’s turn.

The ball was played through to him wide right just over the halfway line, the Sweden striker producing a brilliant run and finish to make it 4-0 and now six scoring games in a row for club and country.

However… VAR then getting involved, drawing their lines, disallowing the goal due to offside.

Alexander Isak not at all happy!

The VAR had drawn the lines in the wrong place, Isak was clearly onside.

UEFA having to come out after the match and admit that an embarrassing blunder had been made.

Here’s hoping Alexander Isak takes out his frustrations on West Ham and adds to his excellent record of five goals in three Premier League matches against the Hammers.

Eddie Howe talking about Alexander Isak ahead of Monday night’s match against West Ham – 22 November 2024:

“Alexander Isak is right up there as one of best strikers playing in the world right now.

“If he can continue on this path, he is going to prove himself as one of world’s best.

“I won’t put that pressure on him but that should be what he is trying to achieve.”
