Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Igboho on Monday said he has not been served processes of any suit bordering on the unlawful release of telephone conversation.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Chief Gani Adams has dragged Igboho before an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, for allegedly recording and making the recorded telephone conversation of him with another person public without his consent.

Gani Adams, who is also the National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, in a suit marked no: M/1006/2024 filed for enforcement of his fundamental rights, stated that Igboho by his actions, injured him severely in his capacity as the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland and demanded N5billion as damages.

In his Motion on Notice dated October 15, 2024, copies of which were obtained in Osogbo on Sunday, Gani Adams sought for declaration of his right to the privacy of his home, correspondence, telephone conversations, and telegraphy communications.

He also prayed the court to declare, “It is unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional for anyone to surreptitiously record the private telephone conversation between other persons without the consent and authority of the parties to the conversation.

“A declaration that it is unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional for the respondent to covertly record and publicly release or publish the private telephone conversation between the applicant and another person, without the consent and authority of the Applicant.”

Reacting to the report indicating that a suit had been filed against him, Igboho, in a statement signed by his counsel, Mr. Junaid Sanusi,  said “Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho is not aware of any suit between him and Mr. Gani Adams, except the defamation suit filed by Chief against Mr. Gani Adams for defamation which comes up on October 29, 2024.

“Therefore, Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho will want to wait until he is served with any court process, if any, before reaction will be made.

“Mind you, such reaction will be made only by filing appropriate court papers in reaction to any process that might have been filed by Mr. Gani Adams and not necessarily by joining issue with Mr. Gani Adams on the news media as you know it is not in the character of Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho to trade words in the media.”
