IGP’s wife distributes relief items to flood victims in Borno

The President of the Police Officers Wives Association, Dr Egbetokun Elizabeth, has distributed relief items worth millions of Naira to wives of police officers who were affected by the recent flooding that ravaged Maiduguri and environs in Borno State.

The POWA president during the distribution exercise on Thursday at the state police command  said she has been relentless ever since she heard the news of the devastating flooding that led to the death of over 30 residents and displaced Millions

In her words, “Ever since I heard the devastating flood, I have not been myself; every day, I keep thinking of the officers’ wives that I heard were affected. Today I am glad; I have seen them and provided them with relief materials.”

Egbetokun, who distributed 25kg of rice, bed, soaps, wrappers, and writing materials for their children, appealed to them to pick up their lives and bounce back to their fitness.

Earlier, the Commissioner of the State Police Command, Yusufu Lawal, while playing host to the president in his office, supported the exercise with N1m.

She appreciated the POWA president for the visit while noting that it would go a long way in helping the victims feel a sense of belonging

Recall that PUNCH had reported that on September 10, 2024, Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, witnessed devastating flooding that ravaged 70 per cent of the city and caused significant destruction to public and private properties
