Imo State’s former Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has appointed Martins Ori as his new Chief Press Secretary (CPS).

Ori brings to his role a wealth of experience accumulated over many years in the field of journalism.

He dedicated nearly a decade to The Sun newspapers, where he held several positions, including assistant editor for sports, Assistant Editor for education, and assistant editor for investigations/features.

Before this, he served as the Southeast bureau chief for Hallmark newspaper.

In 2021, Ori transitioned to the News Echo newspaper, taking on the role of Managing Editor.

Subsequently, he collaborated with Afam Echi to establish Oriental Newspaper, a weekly tabloid in the South-East region and headquartered in Owerri, Imo State.

Naija News reports that the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives made this appointment amid reports speculating his intention to join the Labour Party.

Notably, Ihedioha has recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after over twenty years of affiliation, accompanied by numerous supporters and associates.

Although he has not officially aligned himself with a new political party, there are strong indications that he may ultimately join the Labour Party (LP).

In addition to engaging with the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the party’s sole governor in Abia State, Alex Otti, Ihedioha’s campaign organization, Rebuild Imo Movement, has recently declared its intention to merge with the Labour Party.
