Barcelona have been dealt with a huge trouble card as their star midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has gone off injured with what seems to be a back injury against Deportivo Alaves in the second half.

The German was having a sensational game, too, having set up Robert Lewandowski’s goal, and then scoring in the second half with an outrageous volley to double the lead for Barcelona.

While Alaves scored one of their own soon after that through Samu, Barcelona’s bigger concern came eight minutes after that as Gundo started touching his back soon after that, and sat down on the pitch.

Xavi introduced Vitor Roque in his place, who eventually scored the third.

Barcelona already have several players missing, but Gundogan’s injury in particular is a huge blow as the veteran midfielder has inarguably been their best player this season.

With Andreas Christensen playing as a pivot today, this is the last thing Barcelona needed, and it remains to be seen how this news develops over the course of this week.
