The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has praised India’s decision to promote the African Union’s (AU) membership in the G20, describing it as a commendable step towards global inclusivity.
During his visit to India, he emphasised the importance of Africa having a stronger voice in global economic and governance discussions.
At the bilateral engagements with his Indian counterpart, His Excellency Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Mr Ablakwa expressed appreciation for India’s role in advocating for Africa’s place in international decision-making bodies.

“India’s commitment to promoting the African Union’s membership in the G20 is a testament to its dedication to a more inclusive and equitable global order,” he stated.
He added that Africa’s representation in the G20 would enhance economic cooperation and give the continent a platform to influence key global policies.
The Minister highlighted the growing economic and political influence of Africa and the need for greater integration into global governance structures.

He noted that India’s support aligns with Ghana’s broader vision of strengthening South-South cooperation.
“With Africa’s rising economic significance, it is only right that we have a seat at the table where critical global economic policies are shaped,” he remarked.
Mr Ablakwa’s visit to India, following an invitation from his Indian counterpart, reflects Ghana’s commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic relations.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s support for Africa’s full integration into global institutions and expressed optimism that India’s backing would help accelerate the AU’s active participation in the G20.
