The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed sensitive election materials to all 18 local government areas of Ondo State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The exercise, which took place on Thursday at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) facility in Akure, was supervised by the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Oluwatoyin Babalola.
Babalola emphasised that the early distribution of materials underscores INEC’s commitment to ensuring a free and fair election.

She noted that the commission had resolved logistical challenges in deploying election materials to the riverine areas of the state, including Ilaje and Ese-Odo LGAs. She explained that INEC would use boats in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy to navigate difficult terrains.
“The Navy is providing us with gunboats to secure the movement of materials. For land areas with difficult access, vehicles will transport materials to accessible points, after which alternative transportation will be used,” she said.
Adesanya Olaoluwa, the State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), praised INEC for its transparent handling of the process, assuring the commission of political parties’ cooperation.
Representatives of political parties, security agencies, and other stakeholders, including the police, NSCDC, FRSC, Immigration, Customs, and DSS, were present to monitor the distribution.
