Manchester United have found themselves linked with a host of potential signings since Ruben Amorim officially took the reins, with some rumours pleasing fans considerably more than others.
For example, the Reds are said to be considering a mid-season move for Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku in hopes of easing the goalscoring burden on struggling duo Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.
The Frenchman has made only one Premier League start this campaign, and his injury record makes for concerning viewing, so you’d struggle to see how he’d complement Amorim’s options for the second half of the campaign.
On the other hand, one player who would undoubtedly thrill supporters is Wolverhampton Wanderers’ talisman Matheus Cunha. One report on Monday detailed both United and Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in the 25-year-old – and there’s no prize for guessing why; amidst his side’s turbulent start to the campaign, he has been one unrelenting silver lining.

(Photo by Alex Livesey/Getty Images)Cunha, who was recently hailed for his ‘sensational football IQ’, boasts a remarkable seven goals and three assists in his opening 12 matches, more recently adding three goal contributions to his tally as Wolves hammered Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage over the weekend. In fact, there are only five matches this term in which the Brazilian has not registered a contribution in some form, making him one of the most prolific forwards of the season thus far.
Alas, it’s no surprise to learn that, according to Football Insider, United’s transfer chiefs are now ‘plotting’ how they can sanction his arrival – but they’ll have to wait a while. That’s because Gary O’Neil has reportedly already received assurances from the Wolves hierarchy that none of his key players will be sold in January in order to give the club the best opportunity of retaining their top-flight status.
