Journalist Toni Juanmarti, writing for SPORT, has reported that Marc Bernal and his family are thrilled with the support they have received from FC Barcelona.

The young midfielder, who recently underwent knee surgery, has felt a strong sense of backing from his teammates, the club’s staff, and key figures such as Deco and Joan Laporta. This support includes plans to enhance his contract, further demonstrating Barcelona’s commitment to him.

It is said that Bernal is eagerly awaiting his return to the pitch. After his surgery on Monday, which marked the beginning of his recovery, he and his family have been deeply touched by the solidarity shown by the club.

Despite the challenging period following his injury, the encouragement and affection from Barcelona have been a great source of comfort.

Bernal has felt support from Barcelona

From the start, Bernal has felt the strong support of the entire club. Some teammates have even gone out of their way to transport him to and from the training facilities during this time.

Additionally, he has received heartfelt messages from fans on social media. The days immediately following his injury were tough for Bernal. He was in excellent form before the injury, and the sudden halt was disheartening.

However, as he gradually comes to terms with the situation, he is learning that setbacks are a natural part of football, a lesson shared by his friends and teammates like Gavi.

There is a silver lining

Despite the severity of the injury, Bernal sees a silver lining in the timing. Two months ago, his situation might have been different.

He had impressed Hansi Flick during pre-season, and while some had doubts about his performance at the start of the league, Bernal had already showcased his potential. His injury has not diminished his role as both a promising and current key player for Barcelona.

Barcelona view Bernal’s early-season performances as highly significant. The club sees him as a crucial part of their plans, potentially filling the long-sought role of Sergio Busquets’ successor.

As a result, Barcelona plan to adjust his contract, taking into account the achievements he has made even if he has not yet met all the performance-related targets due to his injury.

His contract, originally set to last until 2026, will now extend to 2029, reflecting the club’s long-term commitment to him despite his young age.
