Injured Barcelona stalwart aiming to return by April or May – report

Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s latest injury has been a significant setback for both the player and FC Barcelona. The German goalkeeper recently suffered a knee injury during a match against Villarreal, leading to a successful surgery aimed at addressing the damage. 

Following the procedure, the club confirmed that the operation went well, although they acknowledged that Ter Stegen’s recovery would dictate when he could return to the pitch.

The current situation presents a challenging road ahead for him. His recovery process will be long and demanding, especially during the initial phase after surgery. 

However, a report from SPORT suggests that his goal is to make a comeback before the end of the season, potentially around April or May. This timeline, though, is optimistic and contingent on how well his body heals in the coming weeks.

A problem for Barcelona

The injury is undoubtedly a heavy blow to head coach Hansi Flick, who relies heavily on ter Stegen’s unique skill set. The goalkeeper is not just a last line of defence; he plays a crucial role in the team’s overall strategy.
