Barcelona welcomed two key players in Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Raphinha back into team training today, with the pair expected to be ready to face Granada next Sunday.
And there may be more good news on the horizon for Xavi Hernandez & co. as far as the injury situation in the squad is concerned.
Sergi Roberto could rejoin training soon
As per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto could return to training over the next week and may even be ready in time for the game against Granada.
Roberto suffered an Achilles tendon issue in training last week which has led to him missing three matches against Villarreal, Osasuna, and Deportivo Alaves.
Unlike Ter Stegen and Raphinha, Roberto did not train with the group today, but the expectation is that the right-back will resume working with the squad sometime over the coming week.
In that scenario, he would be in contention to make the squad list for the game against Granada next Sunday.
The 31-year-old has played 14 times in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and registering two more assists.
Roberto’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the season and with Xavi set to depart, the veteran star’s continuity at the club looks unlikely as the manager had been one of the biggest supporters of his renewal.
Apart from Roberto, Barça are also without Gavi and Alejandro Balde, who are out for the rest of the season, while Marcos Alonso, Joao Felix, and Ferran Torres are also currently sidelined.
