A few days ago, we reported that Barcelona are expecting Ferran Torres to return to action by March, but Spanish publication SPORT suggests that the Spaniard is currently aiming to make a comeback as early as next week when the Blaugrana host Getafe on February 24.
Torres was forced off injured during Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Osasuna last month, forcing him to miss the next couple of games against Alaves and Granada.
While there were reports that he could be back in time for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg tie against Napoli, this possibility has now been ruled out.
Torres’ injury was a big blow
Against Osasuna, a bitter twist of fate struck Torres and Xavi, as Torres, who had been a consistent presence on the field since joining Barcelona, suffered a significant setback.
During the match, the young forward surrendered to a muscle injury during the opening minutes, disrupting his impressive streak of game appearances. Initial scans confirmed damage to the femoral biceps, adding another name to the list of sidelined players.

An important player who is being taken care of
Having contributed 11 goals and four assists this season, Torres, who initially had a marginal role within Xavi’s scheme of things, earned his place through relentless determination. Unfortunately, his efforts were put to a stop, causing him to miss the next set of matches.
As expected, the player is fully committed to recovering from the injury. Physiotherapists have been taking care of him since almost the first day of the injury, and he has progressed to the next phase of recovery.
Currently, Torres is aiming to return for the game against Getafe on February 24. Although playing in Naples is extremely doubtful, the Getafe fixture seems like a more realistic scenario for his comeback.
The final decision on his return will be made in consultation with medical professionals and based on how the player feels. If he doesn’t make it for that match, there’s another opportunity during Athletic Club vs Barça on March 3.
