The Champions League anthem will once again blare in Barcelona as the Catalan giants prepare to host Italian heavyweight Napoli next week on home soil.
Despite putting up one of their better performances of the season in the first leg, a lapse of concentration in defense by the Blaugranes led to Osimhen scoring the equalizer.
With qualification for the next round at stake, Barça will be eager to put up their A-game this time around. However, standing in their way stands a barrage of injuries that coach Xavi Hernandez will be forced to tackle his way around.
The squad’s depth has already been affected by injuries to both Pedri Gonzalez and Frenkie de Jong. Adding to the challenge, one of the players who was anticipated to return for the upcoming game might also be sidelined.
Ferran Torres was absent from training
Indeed, Ferran Torres did not participate in training today, with the player not yet deemed fully fit to participate in the collective training sessions.
Since suffering an injury in the game against Osasuna in late January, the 24-year-old forward has missed six league games, in addition to the opening leg against Napoli.
With news coming in that he has yet to resume training with his teammates, the possibility of his inclusion in the forthcoming clash against Napoli looks slim.
Ferran was in excellent form prior to his injury, which makes his potential absence all the more detrimental for Xavi, who will already be making do with a depleted squad.
Nonetheless, there is still a day of training left before Barcelona takes on Napoli, so it will be interesting to see whether Ferran is handed clearance from the medical staff before the squad list is officially announced.
